Repair Cafe
We throw away a lot of stuff, often because it’s cheaper to replace rather than repair them or we just don’t know how to fix it. That’s where Repair Cafés come in! Together with our volunteers, you can have your broken items repaired instead of tossing them.
Join us for a Repair Cafe at MCPL East Lee’s Summit.
We’ll be doing fixes for items such as:
- Clothing/textiles
- Computers (Virus/malware removal, file transfers, other basic repairs)
- Electronics
- Jewelry
- Small appliances (e.g., replacing cords on handmixers, toasters, irons, etc.)
Please note: To help minimize the wait for everyone, we’ll have a limit of 1 item per repair category (e.g., 1 shirt) and a total of 3 items per turn (e.g., 1 shirt, 1 lamp and 1 bracelet). We welcome you to stay for additional turns if you have more items in need of fixing!
Will there be a shredder service at this Saturday, June 14th’s event
at the repair cafe? Also will you be accepting furniture and other donations.
We had planned on coming to the event at St Sabina’s in Belton this last weekend
Thank you
Hi Bruce, we are sorry but we do not accept donations of items at our Repair Cafes. We will not have shredding at our Repair Cafe.
We’re bummed about the Belton Un-Dumpster Day, too. We’re sorry we had to cancel the event. There was a high probability of severe weather forecasted, and the safety of our volunteers, Charity Partners, and donors is our top priority. We hope to reschedule it for the fall.
Unfortunately I won/t be able to attend this Sat. Can you tell me how often this event occurs and if it is ever at any other Libraries?
Hi dk, we’re sorry we’ll miss you this weekend. Currently, we do not have any more Repair Cafes scheduled on the Missouri side.
The next one is happening on July 19 in Kansas. Here’s the link: https://reusefull.org/events/repair-cafe-july-2025-overland-park/
