While items don’t need to be in excellent condition, be mindful when deciding if something is in good enough condition to go to a second home.
Our rule of thumb when deciding whether an item is in good enough condition to be donated is to ask yourself whether you would give it to a family member.
As a general rule, do not take the following items to Un-Dumpster Day or to our Charity Partners to donate:
- Broken items
- Items with mold and/or mildew
- Furniture with stains, tears, odors, and/or damage
- Mattresses, Box Springs, or Bed Pillows
- Baby Cribs
- Car Seats
- In-home Gyms
- Items containing gasoline or chemicals
- Washers, Dryers, Refrigerators, Freezers, Dishwashers that are not working or need repair
- Organs or Pianos
- Hospital Beds
- Auto Parts, Tires, or Batteries
- Hot Water Tanks
- Safety Recalled Items
- Clothing with stains, tears, or rips
- Shoes with the soles worn out
- Expired food
- Recalled foods
- Opened hygiene products or medical supplies
